Located next to Kiel University Hospital, CRS Kiel occupies a 300-square-meter townhouse designed to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for clinical trial participants.
The unit particularly focuses on small to mid-sized trials and complex pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) assessments involving patients with renal and hepatic impairments at various disease stages, as well as elderly patients.
The CRS Kiel unit is equipped with advanced telemetric systems for continuous monitoring of trial participants. Typically, one or two participants are hospitalized per room, ensuring focused medical attention. The unit includes dedicated rooms for medical examinations and an in-house pharmacy managed by a pharmacist for the storage and dispensation of trial medications.
A longstanding partnership with a local accredited medical lab ensures rapid turnaround of lab results, often within six hours, facilitating efficient screening and close safety monitoring. Additionally, CRS Kiel maintains its own in-house medical lab for blood and urine processing.
Since the early 1990s, CRS Kiel has been at the forefront of clinical trials for patients with renal and hepatic impairments under the leadership of Dr. Atef Halabi, Managing & Medical Director. The staff’s extensive experience with this patient population is continuously enhanced through training, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of potential risks and effective management strategies. The team includes specialists in internal medicine, anesthesiology, and dermatology, providing robust medical support.
